Peppermint Essential Oils
Do you wake up not quite ready to face the day? Do you get a bit run-down in the afternoon? There is a solution – without using those high sugar energy drinks. Just put a drop of two of peppermint essential oil in a cup of tea. It is the perfect way to perk up. Peppermint is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, warming and cooling, invigorating, and stimulating. It works great as a pick-me-up, for fevers, hot flashes and for a stuffy nose or chest. Apply it to the back of the neck for memory issues. Peppermint may help suppress the appetite or reduce sugar cravings.
Peppermint essential oil has been used to freshen breath, to relieve gas, indigestion and headaches. It is a very popular flavoring in candy, as well as toothpaste and mouthwash, and other food items.
Keep this oil handy if you are making a long drive to help with alertness. Add a few drops of oil to a spritzer bottle of water and spray on your body on hot days. You can also spray it around windows and doors to keep the spiders and other crawly critters out.
If you are using Peppermint oil in a blend, it is considered a middle note. It blends well with basil, black pepper, cinnamon, lavender, lemon, and tea tree. It has a sharp, intense and minty scent.
Use with caution during pregnancy, or with those having high blood pressure.
