Many essential oils, oil blends and products made with essential oils, require a carrier oil. Fractionated coconut oil is a popular oil for this use. As an example, Oregano essential oil is a “hot” oil, meaning that if you are applying it to your skin, you need to dilute it with a carrier oil or it will burn your skin. Often times it is necessary to dilute an essential oil with a carrier oil that will help drive the essential oil into the skin deeper in order to heal better. Many products contain carrier oils that aid the essential oils to do their healing, such as a facial serum. Coastal Breeze Aromatherapy produces many essential oil blends and roller bottle oil blends that contain fractionated coconut oil. The Facial Serum uses jojoba oil as the carrier oil. The carrier helps the essential oils spread better and go further.

Fractionate coconut oil is a light and absorbent carrier oil that will help increase the essential oil distribution while leaving the skin feeling smooth and soft. It is clear and odorless and has no greasy feeling. It does not stain and easily washes out of sheets and clothing, making it an exceptional oil for massage therapy. Fractionated Coconut Oil (also known as FCO) does not become solid and has a shelf life of about 48 months.

Fractionated coconut oil is suitable for normal, dry, and very dry skin. It glides easily over the skin and absorbs completely to help distribution. This oil is a moisture-locking moisturizer that is antibacterial. It is used for cracked skin, dandruff, nappy rash, eczema, psoriasis and stretch marks.

Use with caution on acne-prone skin as some find this oil exacerbates breakouts.
