Roman chamomile essential oil

In order to produce Roman Chamomile essential oil, the daisy flower is steam distilled. It is a perennial herb with a low growing, creeping habit, delicate, feathery leaves and daisy-like white flowers carried on the plant’s many hairy stems. The primary uses for the oil are bee stings, calming, hyperactivity, inability to sleep, muscle spasms, rashes, as well as shock and dry skin.

One can either apply the oil neat (no dilution required), or diluted (1 drop carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil), for children and for those with sensitive skin. Although you can use this oil in a diffuser, you may also inhale the aroma directly.

Roman chamomile essential oil is an anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, calming and relaxing oil. Historically used by the ancient Romans, it gave them a clear mind and to empower them with courage for their battles. Chamomile, known as the “plant’s physician”, cures any ailing plant placed near it.

Roman chamomile also neutralizes allergies and increases the ability of the skin to regenerate. Helps to cleanse the blood. It may help with allergies, muscle tension, calming, restless legs and skin conditions. It is mild enough to use on children and infants. Roman chamomile essential oil affects emotional balance, as well as the nervous system and skin.

Chamomile is recognized as safe for human consumption by the FDA. When used on children, dilute the oil with a carrier oil. Also dilute this oil when used on sensitive skin.

If you are using this oil in a blend, it is a middle note. It blends well with lavender, rose, geranium and clary sage. The aroma is fresh, sweet, fruity-herbaceous, and apple-like.
