Lemon essential oil, Citrus limon, is another one of those “must have” essential oils. It works well for the immune, respiratory and digestive systems. It promotes health, healing, physical energy as well as purification, and has an invigorating fragrance. Lemon cleanses the lymphatic system and sanitizes hands and surfaces. It can help soothe heartburn, and can help stop a runny nose.  This oil is an anti-depressant, antiseptic, antifungal, antioxidant, antiviral, astringent, refreshing and invigorating oil.   As with all citrus oils, when applying directly to the skin, avoid direct sunlight for up to 12 hours.

Lemon has a sweet, clear, citrusy scent.  The top uses for this oil are energy, stress and sore throat.  The historical uses for lemon are to fight food poisoning,  Sources say that Christopher Columbus carried lemon seeds to America – probably just the leftovers from the fruit that was eaten on the trip.

You can apply this oil neat, with no dilution, directly to the skin.  Either diffuse the oil, or simply inhale directly from the bottle.  It is also a great household cleanser.  Simply mix a few drops with water in a spray bottle and use on countertops, windows and appliances,

Tea tree is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. It also helps promote healthy immune function and protects against environmental and seasonal threats. Add Tea tree to shampoo to nourish the scalp.  It is a great disinfectant for wounds, as well as easing the pain of ear aches, (apply behind and around the ears).

This oil, with its earthy, woody and medicinal scent, is also fresh.  The top uses for Melaleuca are skin and fungal infections.  It is also great for acne, allergies, cavities, colds and coughs, infections and rashes, as well as sunburns.

Due to its versatile uses, Lavender essential oil is an oil that should be at the top of the must-have list.  This oil (Lavandula angustifolia) is a 10 mL bottle of 100% Pure Organic essential oil.  Not only a calming oil, but Lavender is also a sleep inducer.  It helps ease aches and pains, as well as soothes skin irritations and wounds.  This oil may be applied neat, which means directly onto the affected area with no dilution.  It is a great oil to have in the kitchen to rub on burns.

Aromatically, lavender oil is wonderful in a diffuser, or put a drop in the palm of your hands, rub your palms together and take in the delicious aroma of this herbaceous and sweet essential oil.  Diffuse it in a bedroom during the night to aid in a relaxing sleep. Add a few drops to a spray bottle with spring, or distilled, water. Use this to spray the room, or as a pillow spray.
