Description
Bergamot Essential Oil, or Citrus bergamia in Latin, comes from the rind, or peel of the fruit. The bergamot tree was originally grown only in Italy. It produces small citrus fruits that ripen from green to yellow, but the fruit is inedible because it is so sour. This oil is the finest of the citrus essential oils.
The main therapeutic properties of Bergamot Essential Oil include: analgesic, antiseptic, antidepressant, antispasmodic and carminative. It is also a deodorant, digestive, sedative and tonic.
Bergamot is an excellent treatment for depression and anxiety, as well as cheering, uplifting, and calming. Since it has a regulating effect on the appetite, it is useful for those who are dieting. Add a few drops to the bath, as it is cooling for feverish conditions.
Psychologically, it is reviving, soothing and balancing. Bergamot is cheering on those cold and gray winter days. It has an affinity with the heart chakra, gently relieving sadness, depression and grief.
